Back in God's Country

Why does it feel like when you're always in a hurry, it seems to take forever?  Our adventure to get back to Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri started bright & early at 5:00 a.m. Friday morning!  Due to an incident involving our hotel reservations and parking, we got a full four hours of sleep the night before....but that's a whole other story.

A couple of weary travelers!
Shockingly enough, we were not the only people to hit the road this weekend. (Go figure.) We ended up crammed into a single terminal with pretty much everyone in Westchester County, NY.

Just a tad crowded in White Plains, NY
Flying back to Memphis, we were scheduled for a layover in Chicago at O'Hare airport...and we weren't complaining since that's the home of Garrett Popcorn!

Sadly, BG is no relation, nor do they give discounts for those with the same last name.
Severe weather rerouted our plane so far off course that we nearly had to make a pit stop in Wisconsin to refuel...there's nothing like hearing your pilot tell you that we have about 3 minutes to decide what we are going to do!  The weather cancelled some flights out of Chicago and delayed others.  Our flight to Memphis ended up being nearly two hours behind.

The line on the tarmac to leave!
We made the best of our Chi-town extended layover and picked up a local 10:00 in the morning, nonetheless.

You simply cannot go to Chicago & miss out on the hot dogs!
It took a while to get there, but it sure was nice to see one of our favorite Mississippi River skylines!  Heather snapped these pics from our flight from Chicago to Memphis.  Look closely, we think Graceland is in there somewhere...

But it turned out we weren't the only ones with travel drama that a hurry to pack the truck to get on his way to pick us up, Mr. Ed had a nasty little incident involving a rouge cat and a fish fryer that nearly took his bottom lip off.  Fortunately, he was able to bandage himself up and still make it to Memphis to get us (that man is such a trooper!)
#1 Dad!
Sort of odd though, considering the last time we saw him, he suffered a facial injury then too.  Hmmmm.  Hope we're not bad luck...
