Baby Mug Shot

Not even 24 hours old and Colt's already modeling!

Here's a few pictures that were snapped by the hospital photographer with Bella Baby Photography.  Apparently, gone are the days of the classic 'baby mug shots' with the hospital issued swaddled blankets and hats.  Newborns now days can strike any pose they work it baby!

Colt was a pretty willing model...for the most part.

But we guess sweetness isn't too hard to capture when you're working with this.

Made in New York: Colt Ryce Garrett

After three days in the hospital...

we finally became parents!

It is our pleasure to announce the newest addition to the I Heart NY Y'all blog!

Please meet
Colt Ryce Garrett

Colt was born Friday, March 9 at 2:38 p.m. at the Bellevue Women's Center in Niskayuna, New York.

He weighed in at 7 lbs., 10 ozs. and was 21.5" long.

The weather was a little rough as he came into the world...

But he still melts our hearts!

And We're Still Counting Down...

Guess who apparently has super human resistance to Pitocin?  This gal!

...and we're still waiting on baby!

The biggest change we've seen is scenery...the hospital is undergoing renovations and we were actually moved to a different room because of construction.  Brett's not complaining though, our upgrade comes with a cot!

It's The Final Countdown

So...we're checked in at the hospital and waiting on baby to get here!

Heather's blood pressure was running a bit high so she was sent to Labor & Delivery at Bellevue Woman's Hospital for observation.  Just days away from Chickadee's due date, they decided to keep her and start inducing labor.

As you can tell from the pictures, not a lot is going on at the moment!  We're busy entertaining ourselves with the timer on the camera while waiting for baby to make his big debut!

Last pic as non-parents?  Hopefully!

The Waiting Game

Getting ready for Chickadee has been an ongoing task.

As first time parents, we're all about going by the book.
Which means we have no idea what to really expect.

We've taken the classes

and can successfully wrap our dolls like burritos.

We're trying to be as prepared as we can, but let's be honest, we tend to fly by the seats of our pants when it comes to stuff.

Good thing we got Chickadee a matching cape.

We may not be experienced, but we feel like we've got a few things under control.

We want Chickadee to be clean and smell good.

We think having a clean hiney is probably important.

We figure he'll want some tunes to jam out to.

We think know he'll appreciate us carrying around his bottles, diapers and clothes in pretty bags.

We've got it covered...right down to the hand sanitizer!

Old Man Winter Finally Strikes

We finally got our taste of winter for the year!

After surviving last year's whopping 85 inches of snow we needed a break. Thankfully, the weather hasn't been too horrible up here this year.  So far, Albany has only had a little over 14 inches of snow and most of that came from the storms in late October.

This storm produced 4-6 inches in the Clifton Park area.  The snow piles will probably stick around for a while, but local meteorologists don't expect it to take long for it to melt off.

This weekend's temperatures are supposed to be up in the 50's so these just might be our only snow pics for the season!  Keep this up New York and we just might stay here forever!
